The image shows the junction of Canal Road and Forster Square, Bradford (street names are legible on the photograph). The building was identified from contemporary photos as the Hotel Metropole (part of its name is visible at top right), though the name The Jolly Sand Boys has been overpainted on the photograph for the purposes of the story.
