The text on the blackboard at left reads 'To wish you A Merry Christmas', and the verse (in Weaver Baker's handwriting) on the card next to the cat reads 'Now my name is Toby and you see / I'm a member of the family / With my Master and Mistress we are three / And we send you our Greetings right heartily'.
