Slide 40 of Stanley's Emin Pasha relief expedition (lecture: York & Son, 42 slides, 1890)
– alternative version of this slide[Lecture on African exploration] (society meeting, London, England, 5 May 1890)
The image appears to show projection of an image onto a screen, but in fact Stanley's lecture in the Royal Albert Hall was illustrated by a large painted map, as described in contemporary reviews of the event. Many thanks to Richard Dacre for this information.
