Notes

The location is confirmed by a photo apparently taken for the brewers Charringtons (see Bridgeman Images, www.bridgemanimages.com, item ref. XJF488930) which shows the pub in its street context on Tower Hill.

The pub also appears in a 1946 Topical Press photo (Getty Images, item ref. 3290937). The building had been remodelled by then (probably c.1915 - another image has that date on the upper part of the building). The address also changed to 1 Tower Hill at some stage in the first half of the 20th century.

The area has since been completely redeveloped, and none of the original buildings survive.

Many thanks to Ken Day for additional information on this pub.
