“A very, very long time ago there lived a miller and his three sons. In due course the miller grew old and made up his mind to retire. He was very poor, and had only saved up just enough to keep himself for the rest of his days. Calling his sons together, he said to Araba his eldest son, 'I give the mill to you.' To his second son, Baraba, he said, 'You may have the ass that has carried the corn to the market,' and to his youngest son, Caraba, he said, 'The cat which has kept the mill free from rats and mice is yours.' Not having any more to give away, of course he couldn’t give it. 'I can do no more, my sons,' he said, 'but I trust you will always be honest, and hope you will be prosperous.'
