“An interesting story in verse suitable for recitation. Nelly’s uncle is the keeper of the lighthouse. One dark, stormy evening Nelly notices that the familiar beams of the lighthouse are not visible, and goes to see what is wrong. Arrived at the light house, she finds the door locked, but by means of a ladder effects an entrance, and is horrified to find her uncle lying dead. By means of a torch she lights all the burners of the lamps, and is thus instrumental in saving a large fleet of fishing boats and their crews from certain destruction on the rocky coast.
