“The object of this Lecture is to preserve an illustrated record of this unique phase of the world war, and to help in some small measure to increase our understanding of the Arabs. The aim of the revolt was to free the land from the Turks and make self-governing, not the Bedouin, who have a secure unenvied freedom, but the settled peoples of Syria and Irak.
The Lecture describes how the campaign gradually swung north; how the building up of the Arab regular army really extended Allenby's far- flung trench line eastwards, and why Lawrence was the ever-moving spear-point of attacks from the desert side with the revolting tribes leading up to the final capture of Damascus.”
