“24 Slides from Life Models. With Reading.

A splendid story in every way, showing well the good that may accrue from starting a Band of Hope. Dick Bryan's father was owner of a mill, but through his intemperance had to sell it to Mr Meadows. The latter, along with his wife, starts a Band of Hope. Dick joins, and endeavours to persuade his father to do so also, but is not successful. One day Bryan, half drunk, falls into the river along with his little daughter, and but for Mr Meadows they would have been drowned. This accident sobers Bryan, and he is prevailed upon to sign the pledge, and afterwards becomes manager of the mill under Mr Meadows.”
