Catalogue of lantern slides: part I (London: Newton & Co., 1912), 169

“We have arranged to publish a really good Set of slides on what is perhaps the greatest work of Charles Dickens, 'A Tale of Two Cities'.

The pictures are mostly the striking designs painted for Messrs Chapman and Hall's new edition.

As it is almost impossible to 'cut down' the original book so as to make an interesting and connected story, the whole has been rearranged and partly rewritten by Mr R.K. Dent, late Chief Librarian of the Aston Manor Public Libraries, so that it occupies about one hour to read.

This Set (Beautifully Painted) can be hired for the night for 10s. 6d.”
