“An Irish American millionaire comes to reside at Kilcoo Bay. Many vessels put in at this port, and Mr McKinley, being an abstainer, is distressed to find much heavy drinking amongst the sailors. There seems no place, other than the public house, in which the men can spend their evenings. He purchases the only two public houses in Kilcoo and turns one into a sailor's rest, the other into a stocking factory. Thus the drink is swept from Kilcoo and the majority of visitors from land and sea gladly avail themselves of the advantages offered by the Sailor's Rest. Hymns – If you cannot on the ocean – Jesu, Lover of my soul – Lord, dismiss us.
”“A tale of a millionaire teetotaller who goes to reside at Kilcoo Bay, Ireland, and is instrumental in starting a 'Sailors' Home' to rescue the sailors from the public-houses when they come ashore.
