Catalogue of magic lanterns, dissolving-view apparatus, and lantern slides (London: Newton & Co., 1899), 413

“These exquisite drawings can now be supplied as Lantern Slides; they form perhaps the most beautiful series yet published on this subject. Unfortunately the owner of the  copyright refuses to allow the sets to be sold for less than £10; and will not allow single slides to be sold separately. The high price is not in any way due to us, but we think it better to put the pictures on the market at this price rather than not at all.

NEWTON & Co. have the Sole Right to make and sell these slides in England.”

Supplementary list of lantern slides, etc.: for season 1900-1901 (London: Newton & Co., 1900), 2

“We are happy to announce that we have at length been able to make arrangements by which lantern slides of Hoffman's famous pictures of the 'Life of Christ' can be purchased separately at a moderate price. Previously these have been sold only in complete sets at a very high price; now, however, not only is the price greatly reduced, but the slides are also sold singly.

An enormous demand is anticipated for these, as they form, perhaps, the most exquisite series of drawings ever published on this subject.

NEWTON & Co. have the Sole Right to make and sell these slides in England.”

Catalogue of science lanterns, optical lanterns, dissolving-view apparatus, and lantern slides (London: Newton & Co., 1909), 301

“We are happy to announce that we have arranged to publish twenty-four more of Hofmann's pictures of the 'Life of Christ.' We therefore repeat the titles of the original thirty and give details of the later ones below under the title of 'Additional Pictures.'

NEWTON & Co. have the Sole Right to make and sell these slides in England.”

Catalogue of lantern slides: part I (London: Newton & Co., 1912), 28

“Besides the original thirty Slides from the pictures of Prof. Heinrich von Hofmann, we now publish twenty-four additional subjects. These are most effective and beautiful pictures, the expressions and attitudes refined and restrained, but full of feeling, and the face of Christ is thought by many to be the finest conception in the realm of art.

NEWTON & Co. have the Sole Right to make and sell these slides in England.”

Newton's lantern slide catalogue: section 10 -- scripture, lantern services, church history and missionary subjects (London: Newton & Co., c.1926), 1136

“Besides the original thirty Slides from the pictures of Prof. Heinrich von Hofmann, we now publish twenty-nine additional subjects. These are most effective and beautiful pictures, the expressions and attitudes refined and restrained, but full of feeling, and the face of Christ is thought by many to be the finest conception in the realm of art.

NEWTON & Co. have the Sole Right to make and sell these slides in England.”
