“Every Sunday after he left school, Dick went to read the Bible to the old scissors grinder. The other newsboys regard Dick as very goody-goody, and lay a plan to trip him up, and in the struggle take his Bible from him. Their cruel joke has very serious results, and the boys are filled with remorse, and do their best to make amends for their conduct. Dick persuades Bill to go and read to old Grindem, which leads to Bill and his drunken father seeking salvation. Hymns – Brightly beams our Father's mercy – Holy Bible, Book divine – The Great Physician – We have heard the joyful sound.
