“These Photographs have been produced at considerable cost and trouble. The interiors of the Caverns have never before been successfully photographed. They were specially and very extensively illuminated, so that the very best results might be obtained. The 'Bottomless Pit' has never before been entered, but now has been thoroughly explored and photographed from the best points of advantage. The photographs show the enormous depths of the pit (112 feet) to the surface of this unfathomable pool of water, on which is seen one of the explorers floating on a raft.”
