Life in England: in the past and in the present (London: Newton & Co., n.d.)
FORESTIER, Amédée (1854-1930) – creator of source image(s), slides 32, 82-83
ELIZABETH I, Queen (1533-1603) – slides 65-66
MARY I OF SCOTLAND, Queen (1542-1587) – slide 67
This set has not yet been identified in Newton's catalogues, but probably (based on its Newton stock reference code) first appeared in the early 1920s. The slide listing here is from the 1924 E.G. Wood catalogue.
At least one of the known slides carries the York & Son trademark, though others are marked with Newton's telegraphic code letters. This may suggest that Newton marketed the set under the York brand, which they owned from the 1900s.
