Alfred Pumphrey, England
in stock of H. Husbands & Sons, dates unknown
in stock of UK Band of Hope Union, 1891
in stock of Theobald & Co., 1893
‘Music's power: or the fiddler and the crocodile’ in several compilations
see also The power of music (recitation: York & Son, 6 slides, in/before 1888)
The Pumphrey catalogue reverses the title and subtitle, as The power of music: or, the fiddler and the crocodile.
The illustrated slides are clearly marked (visible from the back, concealed by the mount) 'Registered Jan. 1869'. This has been taken as the most likely date of first production, but could also refer to an earlier version of the set, perhaps in a format other than the standard 3.25 inch square. It could also indicate a date of copyright registration of the drawn images, rather than the slide reproductions.
6 slides known to exist in private collection
