The 1891 Band of Hope catalogue (which reprints the contemporary York catalogue) uses the title Introductory slides -- mottoes, texts, etc. etc..
The 1898 Wrench catalogue only lists slides 17-43, under the title Mottoes, comic mottoes, curtains and introductory slides.
