Notes

The Indispensable handbook uses the title 'The peasant and his ass'.

The images are based on Busch's sequence Der Bauer und der Windmüller of 1861, but have been redrawn for the slides.

The illustrated slides are from two different examples of the set, which accounts for the slight changes in colouration between slides.
