Notes

The 1905 Riley catalogue refers to a Times review of these slides from 9 February 1897 – this Times piece is an account of a lecture by Nansen at the Royal Albert Hall (for the Royal Geographical Society), using his own photographic slides which were later published commercially. Newton obtained the sole right to publish Nansen's photos as lantern slides - see OMLJ 8.95.xx.
