People involved in slide production

LEECH, John  (1817-1864) – creator of source image(s), slides 2, 9

MACLISE, Daniel, R.A.  (1806-1870) – creator of source image(s), slide 1

Notes

The illustrations are clearly based, some quite closely, on those by John Leech and Daniel Maclise (among others) for the original 1844 edition of Dickens's The Chimes. However some have been quite extensively redrawn, and others do not appear in that edition at all. Unless they are from a later edition, it is possible that the images are a set commissioned by York & Son from an unidentified artist.

Many thanks to Elizabeth Grimshaw for pointing out this connection.
