Newton & Co., England
in stock of Newton & Co., 1899-1909 (item ref. KC)
reissued as English scenery (lecture: Newton & Co., 616-1233 slides, 1913-1937)
The 1899 Newton catalogue lists slides 1-303 in alphabetical order of the places shown. The 1900 Newton catalogue supplement lists slides 304-312, and the 1902 supplement lists slides 327-341 (so 313-326 were probably added in 1901). In the 1909 edition slides 342-528 are added, in no clear order and with no obvious breaks in the list suggesting different batches.
The 1888 Indispensable handbook refers to a set of 418 slides, suggesting that there was an earlier version of this title, which was perhaps selected and reorganised into the alphabetical listing of 1899.
As the Indispensable handbook reference says, these were not sold as a single set, but offered as a list from which purchasers would select individual slides.
