The earliest possible date is based on the images showing the Victoria Hotel, which was rebuilt in 1905 as shown in Slides 39, 41 and 42. The previous building on the same site is shown in Slide 38.

Several of the street scenes in central Bramhall are also known to have existed as postcards, suggesting that the slides and cards may be the work of a local professional or semi-professional photographer.

The labels on many of the slides attributing them to J.T. Chapman could indicate commercial manufacture by Chapman, though the set does not appear in their 1912 catalogue, or otherwise that a private photographer used Chapman to create the slides from their own negatives.
