Notes

The slides are listed here in the order of their accession numbers in the RAMM Collection, but otherwise do not carry individual numbers.

The first six portraits show various people connected in some way to the establishment of the University College of South West England, later the University of Exeter, and/or the Cambridge University Extension Lecture scheme.

Slides [19] to [26] are photographed from Walter Crane's illustrations of Edmund Spenser's The Faerie Queene, in an edition published in parts 1894-1896. These and the other photographs of artwork in this set may have been used as models for amateur theatrical productions or tableaux, similar to those illustrated in other slides here.
