WILCOCKSON, Charles (c.1865-1929) – photographer, slides 22-24, 28-31, 33-36, 36A, 37-41, 46, 54-60, 62-69
The numbering of the slides suggests an original set of at least 71 slides, but only these 34 are now known to exist.
The slides are numbered 22-69 on the top edge, and also with numbers between 1299 and 1348 as part of the caption on the mount. The latter numbers have been taken to be the photographer's own numbering system for his stock of negatives, from which he probably selected sets of slides, not necessarily in the same order.
The photographs were taken on a tour of Devon; the presence of the same woman with a bicycle in slides 55 and 68 suggests that the tour was by bicycle and (probably) train. The woman may possibly be Wilcockson's wife (another unoccupied bicycle appears behind her in slide 68).
