The images were probably publicity photographs of the stage production, rather than Life Model scenes in the more conventional sense.
The play's first London production was in late 1895, and this may be the source of these images by Downey, the London society photographers.
The Newton catalogue includes a short quotation from the play's dialogue for each slide.
