GREEN, C. Theodore, F.L.S.  (1863-1940) – photographer, all 105 slides

Notes

The slides are shown here in alphabetical order of their titles (i.e. the formal Latin names of the plants); they carry no numbers or other indication of an original sequence. The set was probably used as a reference source from which individual slides would be selected as required, rather than a single lecture sequence.

A cash book in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum archive accounts for the purchase of 100 of these slides, and gives the basis of the retail price of 3s. 6d. per slide: 27 October 1930, 'Lantern Slides', £4 7s. 6d.; April 1931, '25 Lantern slides of Wild Flowers', £4 7s. 6d.; November 1932, '26 [ditto], £4 11s.; 20 February 1932, '24 Lantern slides for Botanical Exhibit', £4 4s. On this basis there should have been a further purchase of (at least) 5 slides at some point. It may be possible to identify these batches of slides within the larger group of 105.
