Slide set: The clown cricketers (recitation: Walter Tyler, 12 slides, n.d.)

Descriptive data for this set (listed below slide images)
Show
Slide 1
Jones, Robinson, and Brown, / Three men of some renown, / Had lived a pleasant life in Camberwell,
Slide 2**
And while they sat and thought, / Their trouble on them wrought, / Till Robinson he gave a cheerful cry,
Slide 3**
Their friends they quickly sought, / Their scheme before them brought, / And glad they were to join them in the fun,
Slide 4**
So next they interview, / Old Iky Mo, the Jew, / And very soon he's able to produce,
Slide 5
And next in dulcet tones, / Brown, Robinson, and Jones, / Determined very soon to have a catch,
Slide 6
They saw it at a glance, / And eager for the chance, / To win a game, they fixed it with delight;
Slide 7
Said Brown, I'll let them see / What bowling ought to be, / As he seized the ball and swung it round his head;
Slide 8**
If this went on 'twas plain, / All the players would be slain, / So to it they resolved to put an end;
Slide 9
When Robinson he came, / To their rescue in the game, / All said that he did wonders for a clown;
Slide 10**
At last by trying hard, / And having no regard / To what dire consequences might befall,
Slide 11
At last the clowns go in, / And soon the game they win, / For centuries are easy after all,
Slide 12**
That night they met in state, / Their success to celebrate, / And a very merry company they made;
