Notes

Almost all references to this set refer to 50 slides, as listed here. However the 1899 Newton catalogue (under their telegraphic code 'LL') lists only 47 slides, with slides 35, 38 and 39 omitted and later slides renumbered downwards by 1 or 3. From their 1909 catalogue onwards Newton also list all 50 slides, under their code '8LL'.
