The 1899 Newton catalogue lists slides 1-152; the 1902 supplement has slides 153-173, though their numbering does not correspond to that of the full list in the 1909 or 1913 catalogues.

This list was probably added to at intervals over a period of many years; the list in the 1913 Newton catalogue shows several different sections:

• slides 1-87, probably an original set or listing, of which 1-68 correspond to a published lecture reading;
• slides 88-152, a 'new series from direct negatives';
• slides 153-206, apparently a later addition.

The c.1925 Newton catalogue lists slides 1-250.
