Catalogue of lantern slides: part II (London: Newton & Co., 1913), 657

“Starting from Alexandria, Cairo and the Pyramids and Great Sphinx are first visited, and then, taking to the Nile, the principal points of interest, including the wonderful ruins and tombs at Thebes, are shown in their order, and so the journey continues past the Nile Dam at Assuan, which has so altered the appearance of Philae (old views being shown for comparison), till it ends at Abu Simbel, immediately north of the Second Cataract, where are immense statues of Rameses II carved out of the living rock. In the course of the lecture is shewn a slide of the actual mummy of this king -- a monarch who is doubly interesting to us on account of his being the Pharaoh of the Oppression. We are thus able to look on the veritable features of the Pharaoh whose heart was hardened against the Israelites, and who played such an important part in Biblical history, four thousand years before the Christian era.”
