Dissolving pictures for double phantasmagoria lanterns

General description of this series
Notes

A series of short dissolving-view sets produced by Newton & Co. of London.

The series numbers are as found in the 1913 Newton slide catalogue, where the list is arranged alphabetically by set title. This suggests that other numbering schemes may have been used at different times, and the series may not have always been described as such.

Catalogue of lantern slides: part I (London: Newton & Co., 1912), 204-207

“The undermentioned Sliders can only be shown by means of a pair of Lanterns fitted with the Dissolving apparatus, it being frequently necessary to exhibit both Lanterns at the same time. Atmospheric Phenomena, such as Rainbows, Lightning, Auroras, Snowstorms, etc., Eruption of Volcanoes, Fireworks, Illuminations, Swan swimming on the Water, and other beautiful and brilliant effects, can be produced in the most natural manner.

These Slides are all Mounted in Mahogany Frames.”
