The first mention of Illustrated Hymns in York's annual OMLJ adverts is in 1898, with another in 1899 perhaps indicating a second batch of sets. Sets 68-79 are listed in the 1901 York catalogue supplement.
In the Ivens catalogue there are changes or breaks in the typography of the list between sets 67 and 68; between and 79; and between 85 and 86. Sets 92-140 are listed separately several pages later, in a position which would correspond to around 1905.
