The connection to Thomas Wing is speculative, but they lived in the same small village at the same time (1891) and were both engaged in slide manufacture, so they must have known each other if not been collaborators. The most likely explanation is that Wing worked for (or was apprenticed to) Hinkins, who was 20 years his senior.
