Notes

He held central offices with the Church Army, including Lay Association Secretary, Church Army Candidates Secretary and Senior Prison Missioner, and as a result travelled widely around England giving visiting lectures. In the 1891 and 1901 Censuses he is recorded as a visitor at addresses in Hastings and the Isle of Wight respectively.
