Notes

He gave a lecture on 'A recent journey to India' to Manchester Geographical Society, April 1891. According to Wikipedia he attended the inaugural meeting of the National Indian Congress in 1890, and this lecture may relate to that visit.

He changed his surname to 'Swann' in 1913.
