“[...] He published a trade manual, enttitled 'The Cotton Industry,' published in 1922, which was a concise description of the trade from the raw material to the finished article, and he was also the author of several small works on nature study. He was an enthusiastic and experienced naturalist.
Mr Crabtree was a keen photographer, and a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, and this hobby was chiefly devoted to nature and technical subjects. Whilst in Burnley he was connected with the Mechanics' Institution Camera Club, and for about two years was its president. He contributed many illustrated lectures to local societies. [...]
