Firm opened 1875 specifically to make magic lanterns and model steam engines. By 1899 employed 290 workers and produced 70-80,000 magic lanterns annually. Closed just before WWI, reason unknown. A notice to the untitled catalogue states that Jean Schoenner was busy in whole sale, also internationally, and did not sell to private parties (unless they lived in the Nuremberg area).
