Founded 1796 in Hamburg by Edmund Gabory, an apprentice of Jesse Ramsden in London; Andres Krüss married Gabory's daughter 12 October 1823 and the firm became A. Krüss in 1844.
Major scientific instrument manufacturer across the 19 century. Magic Lanterns and slides (some oversize) from at least 1830, probably earlier. Specially noted for development of their 'Wonder Camera', an efficient megascope.
The business was still trading, as A. Krüss Optronic, in 2015, making high-precision scientific instruments.
