Notes
The Bamforth business premises expanded over the years, and the company itself never referred to the address by its street numbers in any case, making it difficult to establish which parts of the premises were in use at which dates.
The original small photographer's studio (still extant in 2012) was at number 8.
The 'new' studio extension, also known as 'East Bank' and occupying the present numbers 10, 12 and 14, was constructed in 1898, as shown by a date stone in the wall. Whether there were already Bamforth premises on that site before then is not known.
The main 'factory' building, unnumbered, is between numbers 8 and 10, as is the rear entrance to the former Bamforth family house 'Fern Mount', whose main entrance is on Back Lane further up the hillside.
