Sold as 'New Improved Sciopticon with Recolving Disc'; also known as “Peacock Lantern”; trademark on lantern states “The Pettibone Mfg Co Military & Society Goods Cincinnati Ohio”, with two “Revolving Disc Magic Lantern slides” marked “Copyright 1893 by W.I. Smith”, in original transportation box (containing also an original flyer which is pasted on the inside of the lid), with electric light bulb. The first patent on this optical lantern was taken in 1888 (www.luikerwaal.com); the Pettibone Mfg. Co. built several models: The Paranon, The Challange, The Pettibone, but The Champion was the most expensive). They were expressly destined for 'Lodge Room Work'.
