Notes

This panoramic projection system used a number of lanterns suspended from the ceiling of a large cylindrical space, each projecting part of a photographic image taken by a special panoramic camera.

The overall effect was of a photographic panorama – the ‘Stereopticon’ name reflects the common American term for a magic lantern, and doesn’t indicate stereographic (3-D) images.

Chase's article claims that it was exhibited at the Chicago Fire Cyclorama Building in August 1894.
