“Thanks to the courtesy of the Royal Photographic Society, members of Exeter Camera Club were enabled, on Tuesday, to see the selected slides from the collection of those entered for the competition open to affiliated societies. As far as the British Isles are concerned, the collection may be said to embrace the finest work of the year, and consists of scientific sepcimens as well as those of pictorial art. The prize-winning slide was a really beautiful picture, which, on paper, would find a place in any art gallery, and there were several others not much inferior in merit. It is gratifying to note that the collection contains specimens of the work of three of the Exeter Club members. Some natural history and scientific slides of Mr A.O. Rowden were of perfect technique, and held their own with others in the same category; those of Mr Fred Walker included a charming portrait, and those of Mr Tutton, a neat little piece of domestic architecture. The slides were accompanied by a written criticism which was very helpful and much appreciated.

The members expressed the desire that their thanks should be conveyed to the Royal Photographic Society for the loan of the slides for the evening.”
