PEPLOE, Prebendary Webb (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
C.E.T.S. London Branch – organiser
“Effective lantern views, an efficient choir, the President the Rev. Prebendary Webb Peploe, for lecturer and readers, combined to make the rendering of this service of song a matter of great attraction to St. Paul's congregation. Therefore, on Monday last, the Church Room at the bi-monthly meeting was packed to the doors, and after a time admission had to be largly refused. After a slight but sympathic sketch of John Bunyan's life and spiritual conflict, the reverened lecturer conducted his audience through the most important points of the compressed allegory. The lantern views aided in bringing the story in an attractive form before the audience, whilst the selection of sacred songs, skilfully interwoven with the narrative, should serve as aids to the appreciation of its lessons. Several of the songs, indeed, were well-known hymns, in parts of which the audience were invited to join.”
