“Northhampton - The fourth annual toy service was held at College-street Sunday Schools on Sunday morning last. Each scholar brought a toy as Christmas gift to some needay child in another Sunday School. The singing was led by a String band of the elder scholars, and a Christmas carol 'In the fields with their flocks abiding' from 'Christ and HIs Soldiers', was sung by one scholar, and Psalm 23. and the Beatitudes were recited by tow others. An address on 'Gifts' was given by a lady teacher, who told of her own visit to Bethlehem, and the reputed mager there. Altogether a most interesting service was held. On Monday the whole of the large collection of toys were distributed to the little ones at Grafton.street Schools, to whom a lantern entertainment and pleasant stories made up a bright hour in their Christmastide.”
