‘Intelligence’ in Sunday School Chronicle

“Andover - Baptist Sunday School - The annual winter gathering of teachers and scholars was held on Jan. 19th, in the above school-room , which was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Nearly 150 scholars were entertained to a bountiful tea, after which they were highly interested with a magic lantern, the subject being 'Christiana and her children', 'An African's Adventures with Elephant', 'The Expedition to the North Pole' and some miscellaenous slides. The Rev. J. Hasler (pastor) presided, Mr. Buckland (superintendent) explained the scenes, and Mr. Councillor Edwards manipulated the lantern slides, and a very happy evening was spent by teachers and scholars.”
