“Gifford Hall Mission. - The New Year's entertainments of the scholars have been given on four separate evenings. The infants were entertained with Punch and Judy, various games, and distribution of presents from a large Christmas tree, and were served with refreshments during the evening. The girls were entertained at tea, and afterwards enjoyed themselves at various games. The superintendent, Mr. B. Clarke, gave a dissolving-view lecture on 'A Trip in the United States.' The dissolving views were supplied by the Sunday School Union, and were all that could be desired. The following evening, the boys had a similar lecture, and afterwards enjoyed an ventriloquial entertainment. (...)”
