“Southgate Road Congregational Church Sunday School - The first annual meeting of this society was held on Friday, Nov. 27th, when there was a large gathering of parents and friends. Rev. R. H. Noble presided. The Hon. Conrad Dillon, amid great enthusiasm, unfurled a very handsome silk banner, made by Mr. George Kenning, of Little Britain, E. C. The treasurer not only reported a balance in hand in the general fund, but that the members had been able to collect nearly L3 more than the banner cost in the banner fund. The secretary reported a very successful series of meetings, which included several dissolving view lectures by the Sunday School Union friends, with their powerful lanterns; also illustrated temperance addresses by various friends. 116 members had joined during the year. Rev. John Morgan, Mr. 'W. C. Garrard and other friends, gave addresses, and the members rendered several melodies and recitations. ”
