‘Metropolitan’ in Sunday School Chronicle

“Metropolitan Tabernacle Sunday School - On Wednesday, Feb 18th, the above school celebrated their infant's annual treat. The children, about 400, after two hours' play, sat down to tea. At 7 o'clock a dissolving view entertainment was given, illustrating 'Jane Conquest,' 'Dick Whittington and his Cat,' &c. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the entertainment was a ship, about 18 feet in length, built by the teachers, fully rigged and nemed the 'Infant's Delight' by the teachers. The hold of the ship was packed with presents - drums, trumpets, horses, books, dolls, cups, and saucers. These were distributed, with an orange and a bag of sweets, to each scholar, as they left for home at eight o'clock, after spending a most delightful afternoon and evening.”
