“Senior Scholars' Entertainment, 56 Old Bailey, London. On Tuesday evening last the second meeting of the present series was held, Mr. Nichols presiding. Mr. C. Burt, of the Sunday School Union Committee, gave an interesting lecture on 'Wanderings by the Sea, between Sheerness and Land's End,' illustrated by the Sunday School Union oxy-hydrogen dissolving views.Starting from Sheerness, the lecturer conducted his audience round the coast, presenting views of all the principal places, and drawing attention to various features of sea-side life, such as the departure and return of the life-boat in a storm, Brighton Aquarium and its inhabitants, the ancient and present style of ships of war, interior and exterior of light-houses, rocket apparatus for saving life from a wreck, & c., & c. The various scenes, and the lecturer's graphic description of them, were fully appreciated by the audience, who, at the close, gave a very hearty expression of their satisfaction and pleasure.”
