‘Intelligence Country’ in Sunday School Chronicle

“Southend - Congregational Sunday School - On Friday evening, Jan. 4th, a New Year's treat was given to the scholars attending the Congregational Sunday School, which took the form of a tea, followed by a dissolving view entertainment in the British school-room. The report stated that the number of scholars on the books was 168, the teachers and officers numbering 18. The teachers and officers of the school have presented the superintendent with a complete copy of 'The Biblical Treasury,' in five volumes, as a New Year's gift.”
