“Congregational Sunday School, Sandwich - The winter treats were held on Friday and Tuesday, 2nd and 6th February. The scholars of the upper school, numbering nearly 200, enjoyed a hearty tea, after which a lecture on the Arctic Regions, illustrated by dissolving views, was given by the pastor, Rev. T. E. Cushing. Messrs Jacobs and Griffin manipulated the lantern and slides. Addresses were given by Messrs. Carr, Griggs, Read, and the superintendent, Mr. P. Worsfold. The infants, to the numbers of 50, had tea with their teachers, the Miss F. Bradley and Woolnough. A tree laden with toys and fany goods as gifts to the children had been provided. Both evenings were most happily speent. ”
